HP Docking Station – A Full Review

Laptop owners, you are probably quite aware of how hot your laptop gets when you use it for a while, right? The reason for this is that there’s not enough circulation beneath it. If you own a laptop, you are probably also familiar with the feeling of throbbing hands after typing on a flat keyboard for a while. These problems are the bane of many. But if you want to kill two birds with one stone and solve both problems, I recommend an HP docking station or a laptop stand.

Designed to create an angle for the laptop so that the part closest to the screen is elevated, docking stations and laptop stands serve a similar purpose to the tiny legs on a standard keyboard.

This feature will save your hands from getting stiff and sore. So that problem is taken care of, but what about the overheating issue? Portability is an important factor for laptop owners (obviously!) so rest assured that these stands are very portable. It folds easily and is perfect for professionals or students. But many folks have a more permanent location for their laptop. If you fit that description, then you might be more inclined to buy an HP docking station.

It’s a little different than a laptop stand. In addition to preventing overheating and providing ergonomically-designed wrist support, an HP docking station enables you to connect a wide variety of peripherals. The docking station also supports a plethora of other business peripherals including Ethernet and a phone input. If you compare an HP docking station to a laptop stand, it’s like comparing a Ferrari to a Honda. On the other side of the coin, however, they cost a lot more.

So to sum up, there are a few main differences between an HP docking station and a laptop stand. For frequent travelers, a laptop stand will be more useful. It will deliver comfort and heat control for a great low price.

However, if your laptop doesn’t move very often, or generally only travels between two locations (like mine) then an HP docking station will provide much more value. In addition to improved comfort and heat dissipation, an HP docking station will give you loads of options for peripherals and advanced functionality.

Whichever you decide is right for you—laptop stand or HP docking station—do yourself a favor and invest in whichever one is right for you. You’ll be glad you did!
